Introduction
In this module, you will explore digital competence in virtual exchange (VE) from two perspectives. First, you will examine the digital competences that children can develop through VE, alongside linguistic and disciplinary competences, and consider how aspects such as safety can be addressed with young learners. Secondly, you will focus on appropriate digital tools for VE and the development of teachers’ digital competence, particularly in selecting and integrating suitable digital resources for successful VE projects.
In this module, you will:
- learn about the European Commission’s Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp),
- explore how the competences outlined in the DigComp framework can be fostered with young learners and addressed in VE projects,
- gain insights into how safety issues can be addressed in classrooms with young learners,
- get to know a variety of digital tools for VE projects,
- reflect on the effective and responsible use of digital resources in VE tasks.
