Module 3 - Planning tasks for VE projects with young learners

Introduction

After exploring an example of a virtual exchange (VE) project with young learners in Module 1 and examining the benefits of VE for the early language classroom in Module 2, you will now focus on suitable tasks, appropriate support, and competence development in VE projects with young learners.

In this module, you will:

  • learn about the relevance of appropriate VE tasks,
  • become familiar with the characteristics of good VE tasks for young learners,
  • identify key factors involved in planning a VE project,
  • identify the linguistic demands of VE tasks and ways to scaffold
  • learners’ participation,
  • learn how to foster language competence, integrate disciplinary
  • content, and promote critical thinking skills,
  • explore ways to promote interaction in synchronous VE activities.
